Sonography is used almost throughout the body, often as primary diagnostic tool. Frequently, abdominal sonography is used for appropriate body constitution, but also for abnormal soft tissue findings and, as mentioned by mammography, as an additive diagnostic for the breast (male and female).

Also special diagnostics are possible with sonography. It can also serve as a visual aid to take tissue samples (biopsy) of suspicious findings in the female breast.

Sonography preparation

For sonography of the abdomen, you should not eat or drink 2-4 hours before the examination, air in the intestines can significantly affect the image quality of the examination.

For the representation of the pelvic organs (uterus, bladder), a filled bladder is recommended, the structures in the lower abdomen are much easier to see.

For all further examinations no special preparation is necessary.
