Procedure
The radiographer will come and get you from the waiting area and with her you will discuss your questionnaire.
The breast is placed on the film and gently compressed with a compression plate. The greater the pressure, that you find tolerable, the lower the radiation dose. Usually two images are taken, one from the top and one from the side. Further examinations can be performed, but only in case of unclear findings or in case of a lot of tissue. Often after the mammography there will be a sonography from the breast and the armpit. The duration of the examination: 15 minutes mammography and with additional sonography 30 minutes. The radiologist will speak to you after the mammography.
