What is the procedure?

You will lie down on a table that slides into the MRI-scanner, in supine position with your head first and the region of interest is always in the centre of the scanner. Coils, to receiving the signal and better quality, will be placed around your thigh and with straps to the left and right side. Your thigh is a large area and for optimal diagnostics the radiographer will ask you to mark the region where you feel the pain or where you notice a mass. The duration of the examination is around 30 minutes.

When is contrast material being used?

For precise diagnostics, contrast material intravenously is necessary. You will be informed and prepared by the radiographer. Contrast material is being used in order to show inflammations of the tendons, tumour clarification or necrosis.
